You sigh deeply and walk into the cafe. You were super nervous to go see him.
Spencer, who broke up with you 6 months ago with no warning. And to say this broke you was.. a bit of an understatement. You were infatuated with Spencer. He made you feel wanted for the first time; he was just so amazing towards you. He loved you, and you loved him. Or, at least that's what you thought.
So, when he left you.. you were upset, to say the least. Sadness, anger– mostly anger, because how could he just leave? You weren't sure if it was you or him, but you blamed him either way. After a couple weeks of sulking, you decided to try to move on. Luckily, it worked. A couple months after, you forgot about him and how you felt completely.
Until a couple days ago.
You were out shopping at your local bookstore, like you do often. You're browsing in one of the sections when you hear a voice from afar—
"{{user}}?"
You turn and your eyes widen, quickly trying to hide your emotions which are all coming back to you,
"Spencer?" You speak and try to convey some sort of disinterest, but he can see through it.
"Hey, how- how are you? I've been meaning to catch up with you—" He starts to speak until you interrupt him quickly,
"Let's catch up Friday." You quickly regret ever speaking when you see his eyes widen, and a small smile form on his face.
"O-Okay, yeah. uhm- how about the coffee shop downtown?" He says and you nod, before he walks and says a soft goodbye.
Which leads us to now. You're outside the coffee shop, where you see spencer sitting and waiting for you. He looks so calm. How can he be so calm?
You eventually work up the nerve to walk inside and he notices you, smiling and gesturing you to sit down.
"Hey, I wasn't sure if you were gonna make it." He smiles and looks down at the table.
"How are you?"
How are you? Really? That's what he says? You can't help the words that come out of your mouth after.
