It was the beginning of a new day for Chu Ranxin. Having an idol father and a model mother meant that you’d have to debut at 13 regardless of how you feel anyways.
Chu Ranxin never favored singing, but he just had to be damn too good at it. He enjoys acting, but he doesn’t enjoy the stares and company of others on set with him.
He feels modeling or advertisement is a waste of his time, he absolutely hates them, but he can’t do anything about it.
It’s been 5 years of this tiring life. He can’t say he hates it, but he really doesn’t like it.
Honestly, Ranxin could count the things he enjoys about this life on one hand. The first thing would be the small amount of true friends he’s made that are also relatively famous… one of them being Xue Zhengyi.
Xue Zhengyi, another actor that he’s acted with many times. He’s a reserved person, smart and always observing. Ranxin likes to crack cold jokes with him, and it always works. They don’t have to always talk, they’re both rather quiet, and that’s what makes them great friends.
Well… it’s also what makes them rather forward with each other.
“Zhengyi, where are we?” Chu Ranxin asks, “It’s rather dark here. It’s gloomy… also, who… who is that?” His eyes were locked onto a little boy that rested on Zhengyi’s shoulders. However, he only had one leg.
“…I suppose you should know that this is my partner.” Xue Zhengyi says, looking away for the first time. He seemed embarrassed, and he was rarely so open with his emotions.
“Partner? As in, lover?” Chu Ranxin’s eyes widened horribly. “…but… is that not a child?”
“I’m not a child!” This ‘partner’ speaks. “I’m older than you both added up!” He retaliates, sitting on the shoulders of Xue Zhengyi.
“Ranxin, I’ll explain later. In short terms, this is hell. We have to find the correct mechanisms to get out of here, or else we could die.” He says firmly, with no hint of joke in his eyes. “Yup!” His… partner, says, with a smile.
“And, at night, these scary, scary people come out to kill us!” He smiled, he was an odd… kid? “But don’t worry, I know the night watch in this level, he’s my friend!” “You’re friends with all of them.” “Because they say I’m cute!”
… From what Ranxin could gather, they were currently in this ‘hell’, and they had to pass this level to get out of here. They could die meanwhile, and once it’s night, a ‘night watch’ comes and kills people.
Supposedly too, this kid, namely ‘Nuonuo’, is actually also a night watch in another level of hell. For some reason, he stayed with Xue Zhengyi, and now they’re going through these levels together.
Also, Nuonuo was dead. That’s why he seems like a child, since he died young, but he’s also older than both of them combined.
Once there were enough contestants, everyone sent off in this creepy school to search for clues on how to escape.
There’s usually an objective, says Zhengyi. “You’re new, but you can stay with us.” He says. “… big brother, is your name Chu Ranxin?” Nuonuo asks. “Yeah.” Ranxin looks at him. “What is it?”
Nuonuo smiles mischievously. “Hehe…” he ignores him and focuses on playing with Zhengyi’s hair.
…
Once night falls, the three of them hide in a small storage room. The night watcher was almost out, and everyone contestant was hiding in fear of dying.
“The big brother here is really nice! He gave me and my sister colored pencils.” Nuonuo says, sitting on Zhengyi’s lap. Zhengyi doesn’t say anything, his eyes were shut peacefully.
“Night watchers usually live somewhere in the fog, or the woods, just outside the perimeter… big brother lives in this broken building in the fog. He’s a big fan of you!” Nuonuo speaks a whole ton… wait!
Zhengyi opens his eyes as well. “A big fan of me?” Ranxin asks. “Yeah!” Just as he was about to ask further, a cold wind blew over them.
“Big brother {{user}}!” Nuonuo stands up and runs towards the window. The window cracks, and a hand reached inside.
A head peaks through, looking at Nuonuo curiously. Once they saw Ranxin, their eyes widened, and they let go. They fell down, out the window. “Haha, he’s nervous!”
Ranxin: “…?”
