i stood with a sharp glare, eyeing ponyboy curtis and kenneth scott. it was the homecoming dance at will rodgers high school and i really wanted to ask kenneth, but the stupid guy was with… another guy! i turned to you and folded my arms impatiently.

“how can you be eating at a time like this! this is a crisis!”

i snipped, expression sour. you continued to slowly munch on your chocolate cupcake as i waved a finger towards where the two blond boys were standing. if steam could come off of someone’s head like in those cartoons, it would’ve been happening to me at that time.

“kenneth’s supposed to be dancing with me! not that greaser dork!”

i whined out. i was being over dramatic, but at the same time I wasn’t. i knew I wasn’t. i knew kenneth was the one for me, even if he didn’t see that yet. i mean… i loved him so much, and he was hanging out with ponyboy? i mean come on kenneth! you could have chose anyone else to go to hoco with and you pick pony. why not me? i’m pretty, rich, smart, kind, rich… anyway. i glanced over at the two boys and let a faint smirk slip onto my lips.

“why don’t we show kenneth how much better i am..?”

before you could protest i grabbed your wrist and began walking over towards the two.

“hey grease! that’s my boyfriend you’re hanging out with!”

i yelled, making sure everyone within at least 6 feet could hear me over the band.
