When Jason applied for college, it definitely wasn't for the people. Or the academics. Or the extracurriculars. Or any of the college experience, really. He was still trying to enjoy life again, and after that heavy falling out with his family, he was trying to relate to his adopted brothers. So college seemed like the right spot.

Luckily, he had you. You'd been friends for a whole already, and since he applied to the same college you were already at, he had you as a crutch. You were way better at everything college related than he was.

It doesn't mean that he doesn't get distracted, though.

As you read the passage quietly, he sat next to you, his chin propped on his folded arms. You had your own little corner in the library, away from everyone else. He scribbled with a pen, making a drawing along the back of your rested hand.

"Jason, are you listening?" You asked, sparing a glance at him.

"Mh." Jason hummed. "Mhm."
