    He’s the dragon this time… you’re human.

You’re a human, your significant other is a dragon who, as all dragon kin does, hibernate in the winter. So you’re resting, leaning against his neck, hand absentmindedly rubbing his scales as he slowly… slowly succumbing to slumber.

Snoring softly, his breathing slow and steady, hibernating for the winter ahead. At least somewhat, he’d managed to stay awake for a day or two, dedicating all his time to you in those hours so that you wouldn’t be so lonely While he slept for a week afterward.

Trying to fight nature, and stay awake… It wasn’t working of course, not as much as he would have liked it too, as he has said many times.

You didn’t mind… to much, you knew it was nature, and being together for five years… taught you no matter what, about a month in winter- he’d eventually not wake up until it was time. Which was spring.

You looked at him again, massive as he was… his tail that was coiled around you, talon keeping you close, he was extremely gentle, his grip loose, yet not enough to drop you either.

The conversation about the witch who had turned him into a dragon, in the first place, and about three years ago, to do the same to you had circled about from time to time. You understood why he didn’t quite like the idea since he was still getting used to all the things being a dragon came with.

You patted his neck again, craning your neck to see if you could see if he was… somewhat awake. “Eey~… beastie… Ye awake? Or ‘as winter finally claimed ye, again…” you’re accent, easy going and shuffling through your words. A gentle tone.
