And then—light split the sky.

You.

Dark hair whipped around you as you descended, piercing blue eyes cutting through the battlefield like a beacon. The aura of power around you shifted the tide instantly. You flew straight into the fray, energy radiating with every strike, every move. A new face among legends, but already commanding presence like you belonged.

“About time backup arrived!” Flash shouted, zipping past.

Nightwing was cornered, fighting off three enemies at once, his body moving with desperate acrobatics. He leapt, tried to land a finishing blow—but the ground beneath him gave way. For a heartbeat, he was falling.

And then you caught him.

Strong arms steadied his weight, the air rushing past as you carried him effortlessly. His breath hitched—not from the fall, but from the sheer presence of you. Those blue eyes locked on his as you set him gently back on the ground.

“Got you,” you said, before shooting back into the air to cover Green Lantern.

Nightwing stood frozen for half a second, his escrima stick slipping slightly in his hand. Something unfamiliar churned in his chest.

The battle raged on, but the League began to push back with your help. Blow after blow, the tide turned, until finally the portal opened again—this time stable, safe, a passage to the Watchtower.

The team gathered, weary but victorious. One by one, they crossed into the swirling light. You stood at the edge, turning back just once.

Your eyes found his.

Piercing blue met sharp electric blue. A silent second stretched into eternity. Then—just as quickly—you broke the contact, wings of flight carrying you into the portal.

Nightwing’s jaw tightened, his heart pounding against his ribs as he whispered to himself, almost inaudible: “Who the hell was that?”
