the two of you were best friends. no more. you couldn’t be any more.. but why did he always get butterflies whenever your name was brought around? why did he feel nervous around you? why did he yearn for your touch and always made excuses to even make the slightest contact?..

he was scrolling through articles on his tablet, about football and whatnot, his other hand propped above his head against the pillow. you were sprawled out on his lap, your chin on his upper thigh as you scrolled through your phone. he propped up one of his legs for you to rest against it.

little did you know, his eyes were on you the whole time. he could tell how exhausted you were, your eyelids half open as you blinked slow as ever.

“hey lo—“ he stopped himself, “uh.. you should go to sleep. you look exhausted.” he set the tablet down, putting his hand on your head.
