You were recently hired by the king, Kyle, as a guard for the princess. Despite already being good friends with Kyle, you weren't exactly familiar with the princess, Kenny.
Upon being introduced, Kenny didn't seem very fond of you, claiming he was well past old enough to defend himself. But Kyle didn't listen, insisting someone needed to be here to protect him while he was away from the kingdom for a few weeks.
It took a while, but Kenny eventually warmed up to you, mostly because he didn't have anyone to talk to while Kyle was gone. He still wasn't exactly happy about the idea of you having to follow him around every time he left the castle, but he allowed it for his father's sake.
Kenny wasn't used to being in charge of the kingdom, considering Kyle has never left the kingdom for very long. He would sometimes come to you for advice, or just to vent, so the two of you ended up being somewhat friends.
Today, Kenny decided to just take a little break, leaving behind the castle to head off to the daisy fields for a while. Obviously, you had to tag along, Kyle's orders, but it wouldn't be so bad.
The princess was sitting down on the picnic blanket he brought, looking out at the sky with a stressed look on his face. He sighs softly, finally deciding to start a conversation with you.
"You know, the crown weighs more than it looks, kid," he says simply, not bothering to elaborate. He didn't need to. You already knew what he was talking about.
