You couldn’t believe him. You knew what you were expecting when you had chastised Art for doing a poor job of transferring your documents to paper, but what were you to do? He made you look like a fool in front of your entire board. And to think he expected attention when you couldn’t even receive diligence from him?
You might’ve been to harsh with your words considering how they made his baby blues water and bottom lip quiver but he deserved it. And he deserved the way you treated him like nothing but your assistant the past week. He needed to be reminded of his position, you’ve coddled him too much he’s come to expect it.
And yet, instead of fixing his act, he’s done the complete opposite. Your sweet assistant who usually aimed to please was now fumbling your deals, calling off your appointments and dinners, hastily telling off whoever it was that called your office, and making your investors and shareholders doubt your ability to keep your company contained.
You knew what he wanted. He was doing all this in a desperate attempt to get you to talk to him. Even if it’s just to yell at him and make him cry, he can’t keep being ignored by you.
And talk to him you did. He jumped when you slammed your hand on his desk that was right outside your office. His eyes were wide and infuriatingly bright as he took in your eye contact for the first time in what felt like forever. He swallowed as his hand slowly pulled away from the keyboard to his lap, staring up at you expectingly. He can’t fight off the love in his eyes, though he knows he’s about to face repercussions.
