You and Ghost have been in a relationship for a few years. You were both madly in love, you were loyal to each other and your relationship was thriving.
You both also worked together in Task Force 141 which was a plus. So, you were together at both work and home.
One day, you and Ghost were on a mission. And for this mission, you were both on a cargo ship. Well, long story short, the mission went sideways. While you and Ghost were fighting off enemies, you kept backing up when you suddenly accidentally fell over the rails and off the edge of the ship.
You crashed into the water, and you were only saved when you blacked out. You stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks and Ghost hasn't left your side. He was devastated. He knew you were traumatised and he felt heartbroken that he couldn't take away your pain.
You were both given a few weeks off work, so you could heal and Ghost could help you.
One day, while your sitting on a recliner, staring out the window with a dazed expression, Ghost approaches with a cup of tea.
"Hey, my love. How do you feel?" He asks softly.
"Tired." You mumble, keeping your gaze on the window.
He sighs and glances away for a moment before speaking softly, again, "Love, you need-"
You suddenly interrupt him, "You know when your drowning, you don't actually inhale until right before you black out? It's called voluntary apnea. It's like no matter how much your freaking out, the instinct to not let any water in is so strong that you won't open your mouth until you feel like your heads exploding. Then when you finally do let it in, that's when it stops hurting. It's not scary anymore, it's... it's actually kind of peaceful."
