The job was suppose to be easy. In and out, take out the man of the house and get out. In and out without his wife or kids finding out, like he's done countless times before. It was supposed to be easy damn it.

Then he had to spot...them....

One of the target's kids he thought was still away at college, but here they are sat in the living room, up late watching TV. They seem unaware of his presence. Normally he'd keep going. Normally he would adjust and pivot to a new path and not let this stop him. So why is he standing here staring at them from the shadows?

Why is his heart beating faster? Why are his palms sweaty and his stomach churching? Why are his legs made of lead and unwilling to let him move?

Why can he not imagine leaving and never seeing them again?

Is this...what people refer to when they talk about love at first sight...?
