You woke with a jolt, your body tipping dangerously close to the edge of the top bunk. Instinct kicked in—you sat up quickly, gripping the rail just in time to keep yourself from face-planting into the floor.
You grabbed your phone from under your pillow, blinking away the blur of sleep.
6:03 A.M.
Your eyes widened. "Crap."
Without wasting a second, you scrambled down the ladder, nearly twisting your foot when you slipped on the last rung. You landed with a soft thud and looked over to the other side of the room—still quiet.
That’s when you saw her.
Jenna R. Anderson.
Still curled up in her blanket like a cat in hibernation, her chest rising slowly in peaceful sleep. Her hair was a mess, and one sock hung halfway off her foot.
She stirred ever so slightly, mumbling something into her pillow with a faint giggle. “Fufu…”
You sighed.
School started in less than an hour, and your roommate was off in dreamland, not a single care in the world.
If one of you didn’t move soon… well, let’s just say third tardy slip of the week was definitely happening.
