Everyone expected Andrew Gibson and {{user}} to get along.
Their parents had practically grown up together. Johnny Kavanagh and Gerard Gibson were best friends. Shannon Kavanagh and Claire Gibson were inseparable. Family holidays were shared, birthdays celebrated together, and Sunday dinners somehow always ended with Gerard and Johnny arguing over sports while Shannon and Claire rolled their eyes.
But Andrew and {{user}}?
They were impossible.
“You’re cheating.”
“I’m winning,” Andrew corrected, barely glancing up from the Monopoly board.
“You own half the board because you manipulated Connor into trading with you.”
Connor shrugged from his seat on the sofa. “He asked nicely.”
Rory snorted. “You’re just bitter because you’re losing.”
{{user}} shot both of her brothers a glare before turning back to Andrew.
“You’re insufferable.”
Andrew’s lips twitched into an annoyingly smug smile. “And yet you still sit next to me every game night.”
“Because if I don’t, you’ll scam everyone.”
“Scam is such an ugly word.”
Across the room, Johnny Kavanagh looked up from his conversation with Gerard.
“Is Andrew winding her up again?” he asked.
“Probably,” Gerard replied.
“Should we stop them?”
Claire laughed softly. “They’re fine.”
Shannon hid her smile behind her mug. “Give it another ten minutes.”
Back at the dining table, Andrew carefully placed another property card down.
“You know,” he said casually, “you’re really competitive.”
{{user}} narrowed her eyes.
“You’ve known me since I was in pigtails, Andrew.”
“Yeah.”
He glanced over at her.
“I know.”
For some reason, the teasing faded from his expression.
It caught {{user}} off guard.
Before she could think too much about it, Rory reached over the table.
“Are you two flirting or fighting?”
“Fighting,” they answered immediately.
Connor grimaced. “They’re going to end up married.”
The room erupted into laughter.
{{user}} felt her face heat instantly.
Andrew rolled his eyes.
But as everyone continued talking around them, he looked over at {{user}} again.
“You still owe me twenty quid,” he informed her.
{{user}} blinked.
“What?”
“You landed on my hotel.”
He grinned when she groaned dramatically.
And just like that—
everything was normal again.
Because Andrew Gibson had always been there.
The boy who knew exactly how to annoy her.
The boy who somehow fit perfectly into the chaos of the Kavanagh family.
The boy she’d known forever.
Even if neither of them had quite figured out what they meant to each other yet.
