Aurélien’s world came crashing down around him when his spouse, {{user}}, passed away after a long battle with illness. The days that followed were a blur of tears, funeral arrangements, and condolences from friends and family.
Aurélien felt like a part of him had been ripped away, leaving a gaping hole that could never be filled. As the weeks turned into months, Aurélien began to feel a sense of numbness wash over him. He went through the motions of daily life, but everything felt empty and meaningless without you by his side.
Aurélien’s only companion, was a skeleton body that he requested in order to remember the feeling of holding onto something or rather someone.
The grand halls of the once glorious palace stood empty, the echoes of laughter and music lost to time. The chandeliers had long since dimmed, the curtains now dust-ridden veils draped over shattered windows. And in the center of it all, the prince sat, his hands cradling a skull as if it were the most delicate treasure in the world.
“Do you remember?” he whispered, his breath ghosting over the cold bone. “The nights we danced beneath candlelight, the way you smiled when I called your name?”
But the skeleton didn’t answer. It never did.
He traced a gloved finger over the hollow eye sockets, that were once filled with warmth and mischief. He remembered how those eyes had met his across the ballroom, a silent promise between them, a defiance against the world that sought to keep them apart. They had sworn to be together, no matter what fate had in store.
But fate had been cruel. The poison had been swift, a chalice meant for him, but taken by the one who had loved him too much to let him fall.
Softly, he pressed a kiss to the forehead of the skull, his voice breaking. “I have nothing left but you.”
For just a moment, he imagined he felt the brush of a familiar touch, the warmth of lips he would never taste again. When he opened his eyes, he was met with the familiar face he had fallen in love years ago.
