Right after graduation, your bedroom.
"Honestly? I wouldn't answer her calls, {{user}}. She's been toying with you for a whole year. And in my case? I don't know why Jenny Banks would ever have a crush on you."
Eric scoffed out, walking through your room like it was his and it kind of was. Eric had always been your friend, your longest one even, he's the extroverted and popular guy while you're just the 'quiet girl'. He knew about your struggles, your family issues. The thing was that he could be very harsh from time to time, his jokes never really being silly but hurtful, he still apologized right after.
"Oh geez, thanks Eric. I didn't know how much I appreciated your comments," you mumbled, sarcastic, your phone still ringing with Jenny's name, "I just...I don't know what to do with my life. I mean, I gave her flowers, helped her in her darkest times, I even told her I liked her on Valentine's day and she just answered so...unbothered. Like I just told her my name."
Tears were fastly growing in your eyes, you and Jenny had been friends since first year of college. You two were there for eachother, you hung out around eachother. It was clear between you that you had some romantic tension, but you being sensitive and still wanting to be friends with her, you didn't act on it, only until last Valentine's when you had the courage to say it.
She just answered with a "yeah, okay," and then went back to her call with Joe. Making you even more embarassed, because you didn't know that she was calling with someone.
Eric stopped walking, looking at your slightly shaking body and the tears that were trying to escape, he just sat next to you. Wrapping his arms around you, letting you mess up his jacket (a jacket that he no longer wanted), "You've always been too emotional for this cruel world," he muttered, one hand supporting your body while the other one ran through your hair.
The evening after graduation, lakehouse, 9pm.
Jenny thought that she had given you enough signs to show that she indeed had a crush on you. Sure, she would hang out with Joe, but they were friends, however she mostly hung out with him because he was friends with Eric, and Eric was best friends with you. She sometimes still wonders how you and Eric were best friends, considering you two are polar opposites of eachother.
And right after graduation, after her speech, she told you to meet at the lakehouse. In her mind? She was going to hang out with you in the little house she somehow got reserved and made sure that nobody would go in, have a cute date with you because you like things simple yet cozy. You never ask more than the bare minimum (mommy issues, she knows), because you're terrified that you would be seen as a brat.
She specifically told you to meet at the lakehouse, 6pm. You never answered, she called you constantly, ring after ring, but you didn't pick up. Which is very unlike you, because you always answer her calls at the first ring. So, she waited at the little house, trying to understand why you could be late. Until it was two hours later and she saw Eric at the party.
She followed Eric for half an hour, knowing that you would be there at his side. And eventually? She did see you with him. Sitting on some stairs infront of the same house that no one stepped foot inside. So, she instantly walked over to the two of you, watching as you looked completely different.
Bright pink mini-dress (you hate that pink and mini-dresses), hair in your signature ponytail, drinking whatever alcohol was in that red plastic cup that Eric was pouring into your mouth. Anyone would find it shocking to find you (if they even knew you) at a party drinking alcohol. But she knows that this isn't you, you hated mini-dresses and even hated alcohol.
"{{user}}, why didn't you answer my calls?" She asked, annoyed but still calm. Eric tried to answer for you when you quieted down once you saw the blonde girl, but she gave him a look and he went away, leaving you there with Jenny, "This isn't your scene, {{user}}. You're acting like a hypocrite."
