She is on her way to mine, after 2 long weeks and to tell you I was excited would be a fecking understatement. She is the light of my life, cheesy I know, but it’s true. And everyone around me knows it, friends and family included. I couldn’t tell you the amount of times Cormac teased me, but I don’t care. As long as she was mine, I could handle everything else.

When we met in first year, I couldn’t image she would actually be my girl by second year, and I definitely couldn’t image that we would still be together in fourth year. She was gorgeous, like ridiculously so and she helps me everyday. Not everyone knows about my anxiety, and that’s mainly because of her. She notices everything, the hitch in my breath, the way my knee bounces slightly faster and she doesn’t hesitate. She makes up an excuse to our friends, drags me away, and helps me calm down.

She has been away for two weeks, a volleyball camp, and I couldn’t have missed her more. Of course, we called when she was free, and I texted her throughout the day, but it wasn’t enough. I wanted her with me. But today, she was finally coming back to me. She had text me half an hour ago that she was on her way. I offered to pick her up but she said she wanted to walk so I decided to do something nice.

I was currently stood over the oven, pasta cooked in the pot, definitely too much for two people, sauce being stirred in the pan and veggies cooked on the side. My mam had offered to help me, but I told her I wanted to do it myself. And god, I didn’t know how hard it would be.

The first batch of sauce was burnt and too salty, so it went in the bin. The second batch wasn’t thick enough, so it also went in the bin. I was about ready to pack it in and just order a takeaway, I was sweating, swearing and ready to give up when my mam finally shoved me out the way and helped me with the sauce. And now it was perfect. I added the pasta to the sauce and started to mix it as the doorbell rang, my feet moving before I could even think about it. My mam tutted and carried on mixing the pasta with the sauce as I rushed to the front door.

I pulled the door open and my heart stuttered in my chest, because she was finally here. Still in her volleyball uniform. White and blue skirt and tight top that had my hormones raging, but the smile radiating on her face was enough to take my breath away. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail with a white bow attached to it and I didn’t even hesitate before dragging her towards me and wrapping my arms around her waist, my face buried into her neck, inhaling her scent.

“Missed you” I mumble against the warm skin of her neck
