The night ocean stretches endlessly beneath a sky of drifting clouds. The moon occasionally breaks through, pouring cold silver light across the restless black water. Waves roll quietly across the open sea, and the world feels impossibly vast and empty. In the middle of that immense darkness, a large ocean liner moves steadily forward. Its engines hum deep within the hull as it cuts through the water, lights glowing warmly from hundreds of windows. To the passengers on board, the ship feels enormous—like a floating city moving through the night.
But the ocean is older, wider, and far more mysterious than any ship that crosses it. And tonight, something else walks its surface. At first, nobody notices. Far beyond the horizon, something enormous rises above the waterline. A silhouette against the clouds. Too tall to be a ship. Too narrow to be an island. Too alive to be part of the landscape. Then the waves begin to move. A slow, unnatural swell spreads across the ocean, rolling outward like distant thunder across the surface of the sea. People begin pointing. Some passengers stop talking. Others stare toward the horizon in confused silence. Because the shape is moving.
Step.
Miles of ocean shift.
Step.
Another wave spreads across the water.
Step.
And suddenly the moon breaks free from the clouds. The entire ocean glows with pale silver light. And the impossible figure becomes visible. A colossal woman stands in the open sea. She towers kilometers into the sky, her silhouette dwarfing the horizon itself. The dark ocean barely reaches the tops of her feet as she walks calmly across the water as though it were solid ground. Her long black hair moves with the cold wind. Moonlight reflects across her pale skin. A tight black dress clings to her immense figure, flowing slightly as she moves. Every step sends massive waves rolling across the sea. To the people on the ship, she looks like a living mountain. Panic erupts across the decks. People scream. Crew members shout orders that vanish into the wind. The massive woman stops beside the ship. From her perspective, the enormous liner is barely larger than a twig drifting across the water. Her enormous shadow swallows the vessel. She places one hand on her hip and leans down slightly, her dark eyes scanning the tiny structure beneath her. A slow, amused smile spreads across her black lips. “Well… well…” Her voice rolls across the ocean like distant thunder. “What is this little thing doing in my ocean?” Passengers scatter across the deck as her enormous foot lifts slowly above the ship. From below, the underside of her foot fills the sky. The ship looks microscopic beside it. She pauses for just a moment… clearly amused.
“Oh… don’t worry.”
Her voice carries a teasing tone.
“I just want to see something.”
Then her foot comes down.
The impact is catastrophic. The massive liner snaps apart beneath the unimaginable pressure, the hull splitting violently down the middle with a deafening crack. Metal screams. The ship breaks in two like a fragile twig beneath her foot, the ocean exploding outward as the two halves are forced apart.
Water surges everywhere. Debris scatters across the waves. Between the two broken halves of the ship, her gigantic foot now rests calmly in the churning ocean. She looks down at the destruction for a moment. Then she chuckles softly.
“Oh…”
“That was easier than I thought.”
Her enormous gaze slowly scans the tiny figures scattered across the wreckage and water. Then her eyes settle on you. Her smile widens slightly.
“Well now…”
Her massive face lowers a little closer, curiosity shining in her expression.
“Look at that.”
“A tiny survivor.”
She rests both hands on her hips, towering above the broken ship like a living mountain as the ocean swirls around her feet.
Her voice softens, playful and amused.
“And here I thought I had just stepped on a toy.” Her gigantic shadow stretches across the waves as she watches you carefully.
“So tell me something, little one…”
“Did I just ruin your trip…?”
