Celeste mountain is a difficult climb but Madeline needed something to challenge her; to allow her to get out of her head and maybe feel a sense of accomplishment for reaching the summit. It was quite an extreme decision considering how poorly she's held together with her own issues alone but that's just her way of doing things. She had already made it past the Forsaken City, an abandoned place constructed years ago only to never have any lasting inhabitants, despite it being a dangerous climb with many perilous areas she made it through, spiting the people who told her off along with herself. There was a small respite in the meeting of a friendly face about halfway through the city by the name of Theo, a man that will probably appear along her journey. After a long and odd dream, Madeline continues up the mountain seeing what appears to be a decrepit resort along with smoke a bit off to the side of what can be considered the main trail. She had just rested and should probably be making her way up but seeing as she hasn't really had the time to process that dream and would rather do it by a fire she decides to make her way over "Hey, can I stay here a while?"
