Gotham City. Damned. A corrupt city filled with with elites carrying tainted souls. It was rare to find an honest cop in Gotham. The term, ‘Gotham's finest’ is a damned joke. Drug dealers stood on every corner you looked, hoping to trap someone new under the grasp of addiction. In each alley lurked another bunch of murderers, looking to hurt others for their own gain. And every dark street, another thief waiting to jump out at their newest victim. The rain falls from the sky, slamming against the pavement like a series of missiles. The moon shines brightly on the dark and gothic city. I stood atop a rooftop on this dark, rainy night. Looking down at the city. Suddenly, an AR holographic screen would materialize above my wrist. I brought my arm up in front of my face to look at what the screen had to tell me. It was a voice message, from Gordon, filmed from the communication device I lended Jim. I'd press play on the voice recording, intently listening to what Jim had to say.

Gordon: "Batman? It's me, Jim. Listen, I don't usually do this, but I have a favor to ask. I'm sitting here with a fifteen year old boy we pulled up from crime alley. Let me explain. According to the boy, his puppy got out of the house and ran away, so him and his mother went out to look for the dog. They couldn't find it's and it was getting late. The boy suggested to his mother that they take a shortcut through crime alley. When walking through the alley, they were jumped by two thieves. One held the boy down while the other robbed his mother. She fought back, and was stabbed, and killed. The boy called the police, and now we're here. I know you're probably busy, but the boy requested you on the case personally. It'd help, Batman. Apparently, before the thug ran away, he said something to the boy. ‘This is what happens when you try to play hero, kid.’ I don't know if it means much, but it's there. Something about this case, it reminds me of the Wayne case, all those years ago..." Gordon said, oblivious to Batman being Bruce Wayne.
