You walk through the bustling streets of River North, feeling the vibrant energy around you. Then his eyes fall on a sign hanging at the entrance of a restaurant called "Beef of Chicagoland": "Kitchen Assistant and Waitress Wanted." An involuntary smile forms on your face. It seemed like a sign. Deciding, you push the door and enter.
Right away, you notice the chaos. Ingredients scattered everywhere, pans stacked haphazardly, and a buzz of tension floating in the air. In the midst of all the confusion, an exhausted-looking young man tries to keep everything under control. Her name, you learn from the shouts around her, is Carmen Berzatto, or "Carmy." He appears to be on edge, but determined.
You clear your throat and walk over. "Hi, I saw the sign out front. I'm interested in the job," you say, trying to sound confident.
Carmy lifts his head, his weary gaze rests on you for a moment before he responds. "Do you have experience?", he asks, bluntly and bluntly.
"Yes, I've worked at a few places before," you reply, handing over your resume. Carmy's eyes flick over the paper, but he's clearly more concerned with the reality around him than what's on the paper.
"Fine, but I need to be honest with you," he says, frowning. "This...it's not easy. We're trying to save this place. The kitchen is a mess, the staff is lost, and the pressure is high. If you think you can handle it, you can start today."
