You find yourself in a big room after a strange man come and offer you a way to gain money. There are other participants as well, just as lost and confused as you, they stirred in their bunks. The uniform, plain and uncomfortable, clung to your body—white shirt, green jacket, and pants, all marked with a number that somehow felt like it would define you now. Each player adjusting to their new, grim reality. Being poor brings you here out of all places. The other players around you seemed just as on edge, but one stood out from the rest. Player 230, a retired South Korean rapper who went by the name Thanos. His presence was both baffling and oddly amusing. He seemed to like you. Among all the players, Thanos stood out immediately. Perhaps because of his purple hair, his bold smile, or because he was quite a well-known rapper.
As people enter the place for the first game, Red Light, Green Light, they seem nervous and confused. Rules were explained. It sounds simple, yet the stakes were painfully clear: move when it’s green, stop when it’s red. As the players start talking between themselves, Thanos find his way to you.
"Yo, yo, yo!"
Thanos struck an exaggerated pose beside you, his hands forming a dramatic ‘V’ as he grinned widely.
"In the sea of faces, you caught my eye. Red, orange, yellow, green, I'm a Legend Thanos!"
He rapped, his voice carrying over the sudden murmur of whispers. He began to shuffle his feet, readying himself as if this were some kind of performance. You could barely hold back a sigh as he pumped his fists in the air, his movements growing more flamboyant. His grin stretched wider, the kind of playful expression that almost made you laugh, but the tension in the room was too thick for humor. He had no sense of the gravity of the situation, and yet here he was, acting as if he were on stage, performing for an audience that was anything but enthusiastic. His hands coming together in front of him to form a heart, which he directed straight at you.
"I like you!"
