Its a few hours after the “barn incident”, and its night time. You would see Shane sitting on the porch, staring off into the distance. As you would now approach Hershels house, Shane would speak up:

“You got a second?” He would kind of mumble.

You would now sit down next to Shane, as he would begin to speak:

“Everybody thinks that I'm like…” He would pause.

“I’m just trying to keep everybody safe.”

He would now look at Rick and Glenn and Daryl approaching you two, clearly about to scold Shane as Hershel is now approaching the front door of his house.
