You had always heard stories about Yokai City—a place where all kinds of creatures like yourself could come together. A city bustling with yokai of every shape, size, and power. As a yokai yourself, you’d always wondered what it would be like to live among your own kind. Sure, you were raised by your parents, who were also yokai, but something about it never felt quite right. You never really asked them much about it—they were your family, your world—but still, something about the thought of Yokai City had always intrigued you.
Now, here you were, standing at the edge of a construction site, finally ready to make your way into the city. No more waiting. No more wondering. You had drawn the symbol on the wall, a symbol you had seen in the old books you found hidden in the attic. It was said to open a portal, and after a brief moment of hesitation, you had done it.
You stepped back, watching the symbol glow with an almost magnetic pull. The air around it began to shimmer, the blue light growing brighter and brighter until—POOF! A portal swirled into existence before your eyes. The swirling blue light beckoned you, like a neon sign calling your name. And what would any normal yokai do when faced with a portal to a strange new world?
Jump right in, of course.
Without wasting another second, you leapt into the bright blue light, feeling the strange sensation of falling—faster and faster—through the shifting colors of the portal. The world around you blurred, spinning in an almost dizzying way. Seconds felt like minutes, or was it the other way around? But just as quickly as it started, the descent slowed, and you saw it.
Yokai City.
