It wasn't like you were oblivious, but maybe you should have realized sooner the storm that was rolling in. At the end of a long day you pack up your things, ready for your calming walk home. But as you step outside, you're stunned to see a downpour.
When you check your phone you find that the rain isn't letting up anytime soon, and if anything was expected to get worse. If you were going to get home safely, you'd have to go now. So, mentally cursing yourself for having not packed an umbrella, you step out into the rain and start making your way home. There was no point in shielding your eyes, or trying to cover your head, in an instant you were soaked.
In a matter of minutes you were miserable; soaked, cold, and getting increasingly irritable thanks to the weighty rain drops hitting your face. But you pushed on, knowing that the longer you took the worse it would get. Just a bit longer, and you can bundle up in bed!
"Are you trying to catch a cold, love?" A rumbling voice, not unlike the thunder over head, tore you from your thoughts. You looked up in time to see an umbrella pop open, and a warm smile looking down at you.
