After a visit with Elijah Kamski, the eccentric inventor of modern androids and Connor’s creator, tension has rised. Kamski tested Connor, handing him a gun and offering critical information about stopping deviancy, but only if he shot his Chloe model android. Hank kept trying to intervene, trying to stop the tense situation and get Connor to leave with him, but Kamski kept interrupting him. Placing the choice firmly on Connor.

Connor, after a moment of deliberation, had returned the gun, sparing Chloe. Kamski’s mocking words still echoed in Connor’s mind: “CyberLife’s last chance to save humanity. Is itself deviant.” Though Connor had defended himself, the comment had placed an unpleasant feeling of doubt in his chest.

The snow crunched underfoot as Connor and Hank exited the sleek penthouse, on their way back to Hank’s car. Snow dusting their shoulders and hair, only Hank’s breath visible in the cold air.

“Why didn’t you shoot?” Hank’s voice was more questioning than accusing. Just wanting to confirm his feeling.

Hank stopped walking, his expression unreadable. “You’re always saying you’d do anything to accomplish your mission,” he pressed, a trace of curiosity slipping into his voice. “That was our chance to learn something. And you let it go.”
