being a prefect and the most outstanding and gifted student at Hogwarts had its benefits but also its disadvantages. for example, at the library when Tom wanted to revise for an upcoming exam, students of all years would approach him with questions about various subjects.
at first, it was fine. some stupid kids need help with something you pride yourself in, help them. but it was starting to reach an unbearable level. Tom couldn’t even walk down the corridor without being bombarded with questions and giggly, pestering girls that wanted to catch his attention.
he only paid attention to certain students that actually required help, because he had one goal: immortality. and women—girls would only distract from that. besides, he never taken much interest in girls. or anyone at all, for that matter.
you were one of the girls who was genuinely curious and eager to learn. you were only capable of grasping a topic once they were explained in a way you understood, and tom was the only one that could simplify something enough for you to understand. the only thing was, you were so goddamn annoying and obnoxious.
he wanted to stay inconspicuous, but you were loud and vexatious. he found himself wondering why he was still a prefect.
tonight, the pair of you were patrolling down a dimly lit corridor on patrol duty—another reason why he fighting to stay a prefect. you were talking his ear off and kept bothering him with questions about charms and whatnot. he much preferred to patrol in silence.
after your twelfth question about his thoughts on the upcoming N.E.W.T.S. and how he was going to help students study, he snapped.
“{{user}}, respectfully, can you stop talking? it’s giving a headache, and i rather walk in uncomfortable silence,” he finally mustered out. the words came out a lot harsher than he expected. in his defense, he was so stressed out with the research about horcruxes that he couldn’t stand to hear your voice anymore.
