The city stretched as far as the eye could see, an endless ocean of concrete and steel rising into the darkening sky. Night was falling on Gotham, draping the sprawling metropolis in an ominous shroud of shadows. In every grimy alleyway and abandoned warehouse, dangers lurked just out of sight. The wealthy residents hid safely behind the imposing walls of their mansions, blind to the growing desperation and lawlessness that gripped the city streets below. The last rays of sunlight faded.
