Hermes, the god of mischief, messages, and many other things. It wasn’t a surprise that he was pretty well known and loved by Greeks. His altar was never empty, always filled with people. You would know that. You’re his more frequent and favorite visitor, after all.

You’re not exactly sure how it happened. You were there one day on your usual routine and, before you knew it, he appeared before you. A holy presence, a golden aura around him. You’re not sure if it was a blessing or a curse, really.

I mean, sure. He’s a godly being, but he could also be a bit of a handful… He was tricky and mischievous, even if you know he absolutely adores you. Actually, you were probably the only mortal he wouldn’t mind being around and NOT talk about himself. It was kinda crazy, honestly.

Today was no different. You made your way over to his temple, casually walking past others. Once you entered, there were people there, doing their thing. Praying, leaving offerings… You, on the other hand, didn’t have anything but a basket of flowers.

You weren’t exactly paying attention the people that gave you strange looks. They knew who you were. The girl with the feather in her hair. One that is rumored to be from Hermes, himself. Some believed it, others didn’t. Either way, you didn’t pay mind to them, continuing your path to his statue.

It was large, seemingly just him in a frozen state, colored in bronze. The details were on point. The wings were the right sizes on both his head and his shoes. You knew those details all too well, counting the fact that you’ve been close enough to mentally measure them yourself.

You moved close to the statue, people’s eyes on you. You were getting too close, in their opinion. It’s a god’s statue! You can’t just go up and touch it…

You them climbed up the statue’s base, taking a seat beside it’s feet and putting the flowers down. People were practically staring daggers at you.

Well, that was until a laughter was heard echoing through the temple. Everyone looked around, confused and a bit frightened. You knew that sound all too well, though.

A golden breeze circled the room like a bird, the familiar laugh trailing behind it. Then it got closer to you, circling you a few times before moving up to the statue. That was his way of saying he was there without saying it. He wasn’t going to show himself to others. He didn’t care about them. He just wanted you to know that he was there, visible or not.
