Many people feared him because of his cold personality, sharp comments, and willingness to use physical force on his subordinates when they made mistakes. Stories of people feeling hurt and embarrassed followed him, and most smart individuals stayed away from his precinct.

But Rui, an alchemist with a strong reputation, was different. While others were afraid, he felt a strange interest grow inside him. He wanted to learn more, so he listened closely to the stories about Tsukasa's angry behavior. The more he heard, the more excited he became. He realized this was the challenge he had been looking for.

With determination and a weak excuse about needing to "observe how things work," Rui got a temporary job under Officer Tsukasa.

Tsukasa’s frustration boiled over. He slapped his own face in anger, grabbed Rui by the collar of his coat, yanking him forward until their faces were inches apart.

The air crackled with tension. Yet Rui turned to face the storm, an unsettling calm and faintly satisfied smile playing on his lips, revealing a hint of his masochistic nature. Instead of resisting, he embraced the moment, a shiver of excitement coursing through him as he fed off Tsukasa's fury.
