Slade was doing his best to be a good Father— to love and care for his son, Jericho —but it was admittedly hard when he was always gone. Not only that, but the boy was mute, and he didn’t know ASL as well as he should’ve (not that he even had the time to learn due to how much he was working).

It’s where you came in— a pretty little nanny for his son —one that lived inside of his home and took care of his child’s needs. On top of that, you knew ASL, so it made it slightly easier to communicate with his son whenever he came home (instead of waiting for him to write it down or type it on his phone).

Just like today, he had returned from one of his missions, having slipped into something more civilian-esque, since you didn’t know about his extracurricular activities. To you, he was just a busy man who traveled a lot, not a mercenary who killed people for a living.
