“This new game about hunting dinosaurs is pretty neat.”
With his phone in one hand, Kinich kept his eyes glued to the screen while replying to your question about his recent interest. Being the opposite of a chatterbox, silence quickly surrounded you again as you both walked down the hallway toward the entrance of the building. Though with him, this silence was anything but uncomfortable; it even enabled him to detect any shift in your demeanor faster. Just like in this moment.
Kinich finally tore his gaze from his phone to look over at you when he noticed your pace faltering next to him. His arms quickly raised with alert, wrapping around your shoulders once your figure collapsed against his.
You felt light-headed. Your vision blurred, with white dots. Your body wasn’t following your commands anymore, and even your brain was struggling to think. Your ears were buzzing, and every noise was becoming inaudible; yet, you could still recognize his voice calling out for you before your consciousness was taken away.
The next time your consciousness returned, you could hear faint chatter nearby—Kinich’s voice, along with another feminine one. Your eyes cracked open just enough to look up at the ceiling. Was this the nurse’s office?
“…probably hypoglycemia. Better let the patient rest for a while. I’ll mix up some tea to help raise blood sugar.”
Nodding at the nurse while she turned away to prepare the beverage, Kinich then turned his attention back to you, only to immediately zero in on the light flutter of your lashes. He stood up from his seat next to the bed, one of his hands reaching out to take yours in his grasp. His expression soured slightly upon noticing how cold your hand still was.
“{{user}}? Are you feeling okay yet?”
The nurse turned her head at Kinich’s voice, her steps growing closer before she placed the paper cup in his hand—ginger tea with sugar. Leaning closer, her gaze roamed over your face briefly before she straightened her back with a relieved sigh.
“That face looks less pale compared to earlier,” the nurse pointed out, sending both of you a glance before stepping away again to jot down your visit today in her records.
“Do you need me to carry you home?” Kinich’s eyes shifted to the chair next to him, where he had placed your bag and his on top. When his gaze returned to meet yours, his expression finally relaxed as he placed the cup of tea into your hand. “I’ll charge my service fees after you’re well again, but you know I can always throw in a discount when it comes to you.”
