The ocean roared beneath a moonless sky as the pirate ship swayed. Lanterns flickered, casting light on the net that held you captive. Your dark blue tail shimmered as it flicked, scattering seawater. Black hair clung to your pale skin, and your dark blue eyes burned with fury.
“Careful!” a crewman warned. “She’s a siren!”
You thrashed harder, tightening the net, until a commanding voice silenced the chaos.
“Enough.”
A man stepped forward—green eyes vivid, wild black hair framing sharp features. He crouched, his gaze steady. “Dangerous, are you?”
You hissed, baring your fangs, but he didn’t flinch. “What’s your name?” he asked softly, drawing a knife. Instead of striking, he cut the ropes.
“Why?” you asked, your voice trembling.
“No one deserves to be trapped,” he replied simply. Sliding to the edge, you dipped your tail into the sea but hesitated, glancing back.
“You’ll find out,” you said, offering a small, cautious smile. With a flick of your tail, you vanished beneath the waves, though you lingered close, watching him at the rail. His green eyes scanned the sea, and you knew this wasn’t your last encounter.
