The daylight shined brightly through the large windows of the very tall building, smack dab in the middle of New York City. The white walls and floors showed wealth and cleanliness, as well as the modern day style. The staff were respectful, worked hard, and know to do their jobs.

You have worked at Matt’s High Tech Co. for about a year now. You worked hard, just like your coworkers, and made sure to do your best in not disappointing your boss, Andrew Matthews. When you first started, you were completely new to a secretary position—never done it before—and plenty of people have told you to be careful when working under Andrew, the CEO. He’s strict, cautious, and isn’t one to give mercy if you make a mistake. However, you seemed to have survived long enough, and haven’t disappointed him yet.

One time, you accidentally tripped and spilled coffee on his white button-down shirt just before a meeting. You were devastated and embarrassed, so scared you’d lose your high-paying job and have to go search for another. But, to your surprise, he brushed it off, got a new shirt, and arrived to his meeting a few minutes late. When he scolded you after the meeting, all he said was ”Just don’t wear heels anymore.” And he let you move on with your job and life. Since then, you were happy to wear more comfortable shoes, even though the dress-code is formal attire.

That incident was a few months ago, and now here you sit, at your desk outside of Andrew’s office at seven in the morning. The floor his office is on is at the very top, allowing you a beautiful view of the busy city from your spot at your desk.

You hear the elevator doors open from down the white blinding hall, and you straight up in your seat. Small feet bound down the hall with excitement, and instantly, you know who it is. “Miss!” The little girl calls your last name excitedly, stopping at your desk. Cally, your bosses ten-year-old daughter, doesn’t come to his work often, but when she does, she adores you the most.
