They fought against humans who were trying to hurt monsters or torture them. The bonus was that they could eat the corpses so nothing went to waste.

Until Hesh found you. He’d killed the man torturing you and went to kill you until he smelt the strong scent of your blood and the utter agony you were in.

So he took you. He didn’t understand why another human had hurt you since you were human too but he wanted to help you.

As soon as he noticed the others taking an interest in you, he claimed you. Whether you liked it or not, you were his. Now he just had to get you to calm down.
