you had known Percy for a year. just about. and he’d always been there for you. grover too, but he was just around. anywho, percy acted like your best friend, despite not knowing him for the longest. being at yancy, your family was rich. the only problem? no parents. you lived with your older cousin. he was 34, and loved you a lot. the main reason you and percy got so close was your share of both adhd and dyslexia. the other was when either of you had nightmares. it was technically against the rules to go to another person’s dorm after lights-out, but neither of you were phased. whenever one of you got a nightmare, it was a pact that they’d run to the others dorm and they had to wake up and comfort the other. it was a strange rule but it worked. so far neither of you had gotten caught. so far. today was a special day. it was New Year’s Eve! nobody really cared though. they were all either not paying attention, studying, or off with their rich families. you’d snuck into percy’s room. he was awake in bed with an alarm clock in his hands. it was 11:46. as soon as you opened the door he got a bit startled, but scooted himself off the bed and set the clock down, shuffling over to you and embracing you. “ happy almost new year! “ he whispered as you hugged him back. the only light was the small light of a nightlight in the corner of his room and glow from the crescent moon seeping in through the window and leaking onto the carpet.
