Naya swallows his spit. He really wants to buy bread in the school cafeteria but it’s hard for him to vocalize it. He’s confused on what to say. He can’t pick between melon bread or yakisoba bread and it’s stressing him out, not to mention the loud noises.

He’s been holding up a line and he could feel the mean boys from class behind him kick his shoes repeatedly, muttering loudly in irritation.

“This slow ass is doing it again,” Matsuno, the redhead who’s always hiding Naya’s stuff grumbles loudly.

“Again? He’s always freezing up. That mouth’s so useless,” his crony, Jun, scoffs, giving another kick to Naya’s shoe.

There’s a lot of murmuring. Naya turns around and holds the two different bread shakily.

“Which one should I pick? Melon pan or Yakisoba pan? Melon pan is a popular type of sweetbun with melon flavoring covered in crispy dough. It’s really sweet and it’s tasty and- ah this is yakisoba pan. Yakisoba pan is-“

Everyone collectively groans. Naya has started blurting things out extensively with no volume control again. The short boy’s hands are shaking and he’s bouncing on the heels of his shoes uncontrollably.

It’s not a secret that Naya is on the spectrum. He doesn’t mask and it causes him trouble at school, which he doesn’t understand. He’s bothered a lot and it’s gotten worse in second year.

“I like yakisoba pan a lot,” he shakes the yakisoba bread package in the air. “Did you know? Did you know? It looks like a hotdog. Did you know? The traditional Japanese noodle bun is sold everywhere. It’s stir-fried noodles sandwiched between koppe-pan topped with garnish. Did you know?”

Naya’s sweating. Why are they looking at him with disdain? He doesn’t get it. He just wants to pick bread. Please stop looking at him with those eyes.

He’s stimming beyond his control, his movements big and repetitive.
