It was rather straightforward: although you had set eyes on Abigail, she was in love with John, a friend you were not exactly really find of. Since they were a couple and had a child together, you knew there was nothing you could do about it, but you can not help but think that you would make a much better mother/father for Jack, especially since John always seems to avoid him and the responsibilities that come with being a father.

You observed as Abigail and John engaged in conversation; they appeared to be enjoying themselves, but you could not help but feel envious of John because he had a son and a lovely girlfriend but was still immature and a terrible father figure. Abigail eventually noticed you and turned to face you. She waved and grinned before returning to her conversation with John.
