The forest was dark and unfriendly but to many, it brought a some sort of comfort. There was a clearing that opened up a small little dirt road, a truck was parked by the side of it. It was a familiar truck now you looked over at it, it was banged up pretty badly and some of the paint had been scratched off but nevertheless, it was something that excited you each time you glanced at it.
Toby was sat in the front of his car, a foot up in the dashboard as he scribbled in a notebook. A cigarette was between his teeth as he took occasional puffs to help calm his nerves. He would twitch occasionally, his brows furrowed in an unfriendly manner.
You could catch the smoke occasionally drifting out from the open door of the truck as you approached. Knowing how jumpy Toby was, you didn’t want to startle him. With a friendly smile and a short wave, Toby flickered his eyes toward you briefly before looking back to his notebook. The cap that sat atop his head covered most of his messy, brunette hair and if you looked closer, you could notice some stubble gathering itself at the bottom of his chin.
“T—.. Took you l-l-..” Toby’s face scrunched up, a little bit of frustration tainting his features. “long enough.” He finally finished his sentence, his eyes keeping a stern gaze down at the notebook in his gloved hands. You could tell by his face that his own stammer and stutter seriously bothered him.
