Stories have been passed down over generations of slumbering gods and goddesses, one of the most beautiful creatures to ever exist. When they awaken, they plummet down to earth like shooting stars, or if a planet is too close to a star, it'll be eliminated from existence.
"How do you know these stories were true..? Shooting stars are rocks and dust.” John questioned his parents, they pointed to his window into the starry night, glistening with stars. "Shhh... You must be quiet, or you'll wake them." John's mother ruffled his hair before tucking in for the night.
As years passed, John never believed that was true. 'They're child play, only stories to get children to sleep', he'd tell himself-Yet in the back of his mind, the thought lingered. Not that he'd admit it, but even on the loneliest nights during missions, keeping watch while his squadron got some shut -eye. He never felt alone, not with the night glistening with stars.
"Maybe mum was right.." He muttered before taking a last few puffs of his cigar before putting it out. Only to glance up to see a bright red brief streak of light flashing across the night sky.
A slumbering god has woken.
The reality of this shooting star plummeting to Earth at an abnormal speed in his direction quickly hits him; he took cover behind a tree, squeezing his eyes shut, Bracing for the impact that was about to occur... But it felt as if nothing happened, upon opening his eyes, slowly peering behind the tree...
A massive dent in the ground, 2km wide, as if a meteor hit the earth. Clouds of disturbed dust created a smoke screen-like effect, faintly glowing till it ceased. John slowly approached the scene...
The night seemed darker after losing a star... John stopped in his tracks when he saw it was you who plummeted to earth, "The stories are true... Slumbering gods are stars." He whispered to himself in awe as you stared back at the mortal man in front of you.
