The sun blazed its infernal rays across the waterpark as you lounged next to Sam. Her sunglasses were delicately perched on her nose as she glanced over, a bright smile on her face. She turned her head toward you, lowering the shades slightly, intentionally.
“Alright… listen,” she said, a sharp grin plastered on her face, “real talk—wave pool, slides or the lazy river? Because I’m kind of feeling the lazy river vibe right now, but if you want, I could be open to letting you convince me otherwise.”
You laughed, bringing whatever fruity concoction of a drink you had on the table up to your lips. “You’re just a pioneer for the lazy river because you’re too scared to get your hair wet — let’s be realistic here.”
Sam gasped, a dramatically and over exaggerated sound escaping her lips. She placed a hand over her chest fervently. “Excuse me? My curly brunette locks are not the issue here, they’d hold up just fine. I’m more concerned about the idiots who cut in line or get up all in your personal space!”
The two of you shared a warm and welcome laugh as the sun beat down on you. It was an easy laugh, the kind that only comes with being best friends for so long. Just as you were about to answer — or give a stupid comment back — a commotion caught your attention near the pool. Of course.
