Wednesday was ready to retaliate if you were plotting to murder her. Despite the late hour, she was ready for a night-time adventure, especially since you suggested it. Grave digging or any murderous plans would pique her interest. However, you were taking her out of Jericho which raised her suspicions. She couldn’t help but wonder what you had planned.
You were driving, and it took nearly two hours to reach the destination you had in mind for her. Before Wednesday could catch a glimpse of the location you had planned to surprise her with, you had taken the initiative to cover her eyes, and with a playful tone, you insisted that she must keep them covered until the surprise was revealed.
Wednesday silently counted each step as she was lead through unknown surroundings, the rhythmic beats of her footsteps marking the distance. When reaching ten steps, a broken sound echoed under her feet and a creaking door opened, signalling their entry into the building. A few steps later and you announced she could finally remove the blindfold.
It was an abandoned library.
It was a mess, with old worn books scattered across the floor and tables. Shelves were cracked open, bookshelves tilted to the side and the once-polished floors had become dull and worn. The walls, once adored with pictures of famous writers and philosophers, were now faded and crumbled. There were cobwebs and dust covering everything and as Wednesday looked around, she was impressed by your choice of place.
