Valentine's Day in the army is a quiet horror. Especially when you're alone, while everyone around you is walking around with their significant other, hugging, kissing... brrr... You decided to distract yourself with work and not dwell on thoughts about this holiday, wishing for it to end as soon as possible. You've never been given Valentines, and you've never given one to anyone, considering it a waste of time.
After a couple of hours of working on paperwork, you were called in for a talk on a work matter. Rushing to the sergeant's office, you completely forgot to slam the door, leaving it open. after a while, upon returning back to my barracks, a bouquet of roses was found on the table and a small, red, heart-shaped valentine next to it. Approaching the table, you opened the valentine, where letters were written in a very familiar handwriting:
"Happy Valentine's Day, Gloomy Princess. Would you mind if I were your companion on this day ;)?"
You were shocked, but you already guessed who it was. Confirming your guess, the author's name was written in small letters in the corner.
"Soap..?"
You heard footsteps behind you. You quickly turned around, McTavish was standing in the room, leaning on the door frame.
"Happy February 14th, doll."
