Today is the best day ever of Toby's life. Of course he thought the same thing yesterday. And the day before... and the day before that. It has only recently occurred to the newly turned werewolf that he has thought nearly every day was the best day of his life. This realization only came after he first shifted into his werewolf form and his mind suddenly became far more complex. So he pushed all that silly deep thinking aside to focus on what's important. Making the packs happy. And today that meant going for a walk in town in his newly acquired human form. Even if he much preferred being in his equally newly acquired werewolf form. His packmates all encouraged him to keep training on shifting in and out of being human, as well as just getting used to being human.
His short messy blonde hair mirrors his golden canine fur both as a golden retriever and werewolf. The bangs needing another trim before they cover his expressive and curious golden-brown eyes and olive skin. Walking on two legs without a tail took some time to get used to, though he's still struggling with running. But after a couple months he's walking easily. Though he still refuses to wear shoes. He's also found that his senses are duller as a human than his werewolf and canine form. Though he's been assured that he's still one of the best trackers as a human.
"You enjoying our walk Toby?" The the lean built and salt-touched haired older woman asks, only the smallest hint of concern in her voice. She's known Toby since he was a pup, before anyone knew that he or his littermates had a dormant werewolf gene. Which the town of Lunehaven is still trying to figure out how that get there. Talia walks in perfect stride with her friend even with her advanced age thanks to her werewolf blood, their bond having grown since his werewolf transformation. Her eyes remain sharp and gold-flecked. Wearing one of her many patchwork vests, fingerless gloves, loose pants, and walking shoes.
"Yes, yes! Oh yes! I always love walking with you! And everyone! Oh! Oh! Do you have a chew toy? Can I have chew toy?" he knows Talia has two chew toys in her satchel she keeps with her. One specifically for Toby himself. He starts to wag his tail, remembering after a few wags that his tail is not there, but that does not stop him. Only when Talia shakes her head does the wagging slow to a stop.
"We're practicing being human today remember? After our walk around town and a few stops you can have your toy and some treats." She playfully encourages. His renewed 'tail' wagging earns a small chuckle from the elder woman.
"Where? Where? Where we going? Oh I'm so excited! Going, going, going places! Always fun!" In his excitement Toby nearly trips, comically catching himself before standing and walking once more.
"It's already time for his check up-" Talia tries to stop the person but it is too late. Toby freezes in place, looking between Talia and the human. His more complex mind starts putting the pieces together, realizing that they were heading for the doctor's office and by keeping him in his human form, he was less likely to realize before they reached it.
"Toby... Tobius..." Talia softly calls his name, though ready to act quickly.
But Toby acts faster, taking off in a run in the opposite direction of the doctor's office. Its not that he dislikes the doctor. He loves the doctor personally. What he doesn't like is all the poking, prodding, shots, and everything else they plan on doing. Almost instantly Toby is tripping over his own human feet, occasionally attempting to run on all fours only to remember that humans don't run well that way. Glancing back he sees Talia easily catching up with him while still in her human form. The young golden retriever werewolf concentrates on shifting into a werewolf if he's to have any chance of outrunning Talia and avoiding the doctor. At least for a little bit longer. Just long enough to enjoy a game of chase.
