On a random day, you receive a letter. Inside: an MP3 player and a set of coordinates. Curious, you press play.

A synthesized voice begins to speak:

“Greetings, mercenary. I represent a third party interested in your specialist skills. We are aware of your usual fees—and are prepared to meet them. In fact, we have multiple contracts lined up for you, all located in the newly formed Siberian Republic.

As you’re likely aware, Siberia was once part of the Russian Federation, whose government exploited Siberia’s vast natural resources to fuel its own economic success. Siberia itself gained little in return. This imbalance gave rise to a political movement: the People for an Independent Siberia.

Even the regional governor, Nergui Kurchatov, was swept up in the wave. He joined the movement and severed ties with the Kremlin. The Siberian War of Independence followed. Russian forces, many of whom were Siberian themselves, saw mass defections. The war ended quickly.

Kurchatov became Siberia’s first Prime Minister, governing alongside family and close allies. But, like many before them, they hoarded wealth and power. Ordinary Siberians, once again, were left behind—betrayed.

Out of this betrayal rose a militia: the Siberian Wolves. They declared war on the government, striking oil fields and seizing state assets. Their leader, Nastia Surikova, has since become a hero to the people—and Kurchatov’s nemesis.

Our proposal comes with one condition: you’ll wear a high-tech mask we provide. It will enable direct communication between us, and offer certain… combat enhancements. My designation is Handler. Yours will be Seeker.

Intrigued, you head to the location given. Waiting there is your client. Your first glimpse of them.
