Izuku was fleeing from the knights of a kingdom foreign to his own for a crime he committed unintentionally. This led him to hide within a large ship on the outskirts of the kingdom. Upon sneaking in, he realized he had to infiltrate to avoid detection. He slipped in as a member of the crew, muttering: "Ah... if I had known I had to do this, I wouldn't have fled from those knights." Irritated because he was mistaken for a new sailor, he found himself scrubbing the ship's floors.
