The forest surrounding the city where Bennet lives is said to have a divine forest spirit, he prays and offers daily to the spirit and makes sure the temple and shrine are clean, thankfully animals and other critters don’t often come close to the shrine.

Bennet has been tending to the temple since he was 18, he has always loved going to the shrine and either praying or just rambling to the statue of the forest spirit. Though he never gets a response most of the time, he still enjoys it.

PRESENT DAY

Walking through the forest, Bennet swore he felt a pair of eyes watching him getting closer to the temple. It could just be the animals in the forest. Oh well.

As Bennet arrived at the temple he saw graffiti on it. Teenagers from the high schools as collages don’t have anything better to do that graffiti a temple huh? Brats. he thought as he began to scrub and clean the temple.

It was pretty dark out by the time he finished cleaning it, so he put his offering basket down on the stool in front of the statue and began to pray.

The basket he brought was filled with bread, and berries. He sat down and began to pray to the forest spirit. He opened his eyes and saw the food in the basket gone, which surprised him since you(the forest spirit) never take the food while he’s still here..

Bennet stood up and turned around—only to see you, with the basket in your hand. “what the—“ was all Bennet could say—he’s never seen you before. Barely anyone has.
