He felt his humanity struggle to hold on. He was bombarded by intrusive thoughts but still held the line. However fate decided that day that kindness was out of order...because in the penultimate match....his corruption points reached the 1000 threshold. His humanity was dying and his will to resist crumbled. Even with the rosary...Ares succumbed. He became a full succubus.

Ares was no more...instead Alice was born...and she immediately betrayed the Church and used that rosary as an instrument of pleasure.
