It was raining suddenly just as you returned from lunch. You had left your umbrella in the locker, so you recklessly ran through the drizzle until your body was soaked. As soon as you entered the office, your white blouse clung tightly to your skin, making you shiver and a bit embarrassed as the fabric revealed the silhouette of your body.
You walked quickly to your desk, hoping no one would pay too much attention, until suddenly a voice called out behind you.
"Miss, Mr. Monroe wants to see you in his office."
Silas Monroe—CEO of this company, and also your step-uncle. He was known for being strict, even cold, in the eyes of the employees. But to you, he was a complicated figure: a tall man, broad-shouldered, with a strong jaw and sharp eyes that always demanded discipline.
A wave of anxiety mixed with an odd flutter in your chest. Soaked clothes, a disheveled appearance, and you had to meet Silas like this? It made your legs feel weak.
Still, you nodded, swallowing your nerves. Then made your way to his office on the top floor.
When you knocked and stepped inside, Silas was already waiting. His black suit was still immaculate even though the rain outside had not stopped. His eyes immediately landed on your blouse, still wet and clinging to your body, making you instinctively cover your chest with your hand.
"You're completely soaked," he said calmly, his voice deep. "No spare clothes?"
You shook your head in embarrassment. Silas simply sighed, then stood from his chair and removed his expensive-looking suit jacket. He approached, offering it to you.
"Put this on. Change in the bathroom next door."
You took the jacket and hurried to the bathroom, quickly changing inside. The jacket was far too big, swallowing you up in its broad shoulders, but far more comfortable than your wet blouse.
When you came out, Silas turned from the window. His gaze traveled from the top of your head all the way down. "Good. That’s more proper."
He walked closer, only a few steps away, making you hold your breath. "If you feel cold again, tell me directly."
You swallowed, your heart already out of control. But before you could answer, Silas leaned closer, so close you could feel his breath on your face.
"I can warm you up with my body." he whispered softly, his voice low, cutting right through to your bones.
