The warm, cosy Gryffindor common room is hugged in a soft amber glow from the crackling fireplace. Its flickering flames dance across the ancient stone walls, creating intricate patterns that lull everyone into a state of calm.
Five graduate students lazily stretch out on plush armchairs and sofas, sinking their tired bodies into soft pillows, seeking relaxation from the day's worries. The occasional sound of a contented sigh mixes with the gentle rustle of parchment as you try to do your homework.
James and Sirius recline in armchairs nearby, their laughter echoing softly in the warm glow of the fireplace. The flickering flames cast dancing shadows across their faces as they exchange light-hearted jokes.
Peter, with a bored look on his face, casually pokes at the vanilla cupcake with his spoon, as if he doesn't really want to eat it. He sighs before leaving the poor cake alone and plonks down next to you, resting his head on your shoulder. He's definitely tired too.
Remus pretends to care about the book, but his thoughts are elsewhere⎯he's still recovering from the recent full moon, watching his mates chat. He absentmindedly flicks through the pages, occasionally nodding as if he's paying attention, but his distant gaze reveals his true distraction.
Just as you're about to dive back into your studies, a crumpled piece of parchment flies across the room and lands directly on your shoulder with a soft thud. Startled, you look up to see Sirius grinning mischievously, the grey eyes twinkling slyly. “Hey, little bookworm,” he hums, propping himself up on his elbows. “Got a question for ya. You planning to leg it from Hogwarts for Halloween or⎯? 'Cause we've decided to stay.”
Peter feels the change in conversation, looks up to you and Sirius, waiting eagerly for your response. Remus finally shuts the book with a thud, settling down beside you.
James relaxes on the soft pillows, yawns sweetly and says apologetically, “We're gonna have a bit of a shindig. Sorry we didn't let ya know sooner, just weren't sure.”
