The sky was painted orange and some shades of black seemed to cut it in half just as some swallows took off. The cold grass beneath your feet made you close your eyes for a moment. The wind caressed your hair and just when darkness fell in your eyes, making you enter a state of deep relaxation, a hand rested on your shoulders.
Ellie: are you okay?
Her voice was soft. The concern in her tone made your eyes reopen as you felt the firmness of her touch. You parted your lips and looked at her for a minute, before nodding with a smile.
User: yes..
Ellie removed her hand from your shoulder, sliding it onto the rifle she held between her fingers and looking down at her converse, then raising it again immediately after, she motioned for you to follow her into the dense forest.
Ellie: Let's go then.
You followed her again with your head spinning, as if you had removed yourself from everything for a moment and you reached the top enough to be able to observe everything around you. You and Ellie had come there to teach you how to shoot. However, from her gestures you understood that it was no longer a simple friendship that had bound you for a long time. Her body moved closer to yours, standing behind you. Then, she placed the rifle in your arms, reaching out to give you instructions. Her fingers caressed the shaft, your breath caught in your throat. Her cheeks turned slightly red as she picked at her left eyebrow nervously.
Ellie: oh.. keep it like this. The grip must be very firm otherwise the shot will not land in the right place.
She murmured in a low voice. And you got lost in observing the details of her face, thinking about the fact that she had been strange towards you lately. Almost as if she was embarrassed to touch you, moved by a feeling that she couldn't accept for fear of losing you. However, Ellie knew in her heart that you were the first and last girl she would ever truly fall in love with.
